The purpose of this site is to provide limited access to information regarding the complaint and status of criminal cases filed by the Portage County District Attorney's Office with the Portage County Clerk of Courts. Generally this site includes cases that were filed from the end of 2002 forward.
A complaint is nothing more than a written, formal accusation against a defendant charging the commission of one or more criminal acts. A complaint is not to be considered as evidence against the defendant in any way. It does not raise any inference of guilt.
Defendants are not required to prove their innocence. The law presumes every person charged with the commission of an offense to be innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
Access to this site is limited to practicing attorneys for the benefit of their criminal clients and the news media. Passwords issued are confidential and may not be released to unauthorized persons or entities.
